Newly Identified Crocodile Relative Offers Glimpse into Ancient Ecosystems

Editorial Staff · 1 min read

Researchers have identified a new species of crocodile relative named Hesperosuchus agilis, which lived 210 million years ago in what is now northern New Mexico.

This ancient creature was comparable in size to modern jackals and appears to have been adapted for hunting larger prey.

The findings contribute valuable insights into the ecosystems of the time, highlighting the evolutionary traits of early crocodilian relatives.
